The name of our upper gym, is the name of Kamehameha's favorite wife. The gym was named after his favorite wife because she loved to play and watch sports just like Kamehameha did.

This building was named after Pauahi's mother. Her mother loved her so much and would do anything for Pauahi's success. Also this was the girls school where the girls went to school.

Haleakalā
The name of Pauahaiʻs house, and the name for our upper campus art/speech/English department building. Haleakalā was a the cafeteria for the girls school when the school was split. This is the reason why the rooms are a built so oddly shaped.

Ke‘elikōlani
This is the real name for the auditorium/performing arts building. Ke‘elikōlani was a princess of Hawai‘i that had no surviving kids so she gave all of her land to Pauahi. She loved the Hawaiian culture and language. She practiced so much Hawaiian culture that every letter had to be sent to her in Hawaiian and if someone wanted to speak to her, they would have to speak in Hawaiian.

The boys dorms, in comparison to the girls dorms, are way smaller and less attractive. This is because they started building from the top of the campus and when they got to the bottom, Kamehameha schools was running out of money. The boys dorms were named in order of the Kamehameha's with the exception of Lunalilo dorm. Lunalilo was the grandchild of Kamehameha.

Famous Sperm tree
We ended our wonderful tour with a little bit of history behind the very famous sperm tree. It was planted by the first graduation class Kamehameha Schools, in 1891. I thought this was extremely interesting because it gives the tree a lot more purpose and significance than the tree you get dropped off and picked up at.
